Welcome to my little corner of the internet. My name is Yessica, and I’m in my 20s, navigating the rollercoaster that is adulthood while working toward something I’ve always dreamed of: financial freedom.

Like many of us, I’ve felt the weight of trying to balance bills, debt, and the desire to actually enjoy life. But recently, I realized that if I want to take control of my future, I need to take control of my money first. That’s what led me to start this blog—not because I have all the answers, but because I’m figuring things out as I go and want to share the journey with you.

Why Financial Freedom Matters to Me

Financial freedom isn’t just about having a lot of money in the bank. To me, it’s about options:

  • The option to travel without constantly checking my account balance.
  • The option to say yes to experiences without guilt.
  • The option to live life on my own terms.

But let’s be real—this process can feel overwhelming. The thought of building savings, managing debt, and trying to grow my income all at once felt like a mountain I wasn’t sure I could climb. That’s why I’ve decided to start small. I’m focusing on simple steps and tools that make the process feel manageable (and even a little fun).

My First Steps Toward Financial Freedom

I’m keeping things simple right now with a few key habits:

  1. Getting Serious About Budgeting
    • For years, I avoided the “B word” because it sounded restrictive. But now I realize that budgeting is about knowing where my money goes—and giving myself permission to spend on things that matter to me. I’ve started tracking my income and expenses every week, which has been eye-opening (and sometimes terrifying!).
    • If you need someone to keep you accountable for your weekly spending, check out my instagram (@_itsyessica) for weekly ‘What I spend In a Week’ and other budgeting friendly posts!
  2. Starting an Emergency Fund
    • Having a cushion for unexpected expenses feels like the ultimate adult move, so I’m making it a priority. Even though I can only set aside small amounts right now, I know consistency is key.
    • I personally use a High Yield Savings Account to make sure I’m getting the most bang for my buck! Open yours today! Click Here !
  3. Making Small Lifestyle Swaps
    • Saving money doesn’t have to mean giving up everything fun. For example, I’ve swapped takeout coffee for a DIY setup at home, and I’ve learned to meal prep (most weeks) instead of eating out every day. These changes don’t feel like sacrifices—they feel like investments in my goals.
      • Click here to shop my coffee maker (truly life changing)!
      • Here for my favorite Tupperware!
  4. Exploring Side Hustles
    • To speed up my progress, I’m experimenting with ways to earn extra money. Whether it’s freelance gigs, reselling items I no longer use, or starting this blog, I’m exploring what works best for me while still prioritizing balance. I’ll make sure to make a Blog post about my side hustle progress!

Staying Motivated on the Journey

This isn’t a quick fix—it’s a long game. What keeps me going is tracking my progress, celebrating small wins, and remembering why I started in the first place. Every time I hit a savings milestone or stick to my budget for a month, it feels like a step closer to the freedom I’m working toward.

Let’s Build This Together

My hope for this blog is to create a space where we can grow, learn, and share as we all work toward financial freedom. I’m not an expert, just someone figuring it out one day at a time.

If you’re on a similar journey, I’d love to hear from you! What’s one small step you’ve taken toward your financial goals? Drop a comment or connect with me on Instagram—I’d love to chat.

Thank you for being here and for supporting me on this journey. Here’s to building the life we’ve always dreamed of—one step at a time.
